Thinking about getting a female Betta Fish and i need some advice ...
Will this be alright for a few weeks to a few months for the fish to live in. I have a 90 gallon tank that i would need to fix up before i allow any fish to live in it. It comes with plants, rocks, heater, thermometer, filter, air pump, water... Yes, I am sure your female will be fine in the 1 gallon tank, but I would recommend you buy a heater, especially as you will no doubt be having one in the larger 90 gallon. So i got a 1 gallon Betta fish tank set up. The tank has gravel, a plastic plant, a filter, a cover and a light. As for adding them to the tank, you will need to add at least 6 or more to the tank, this way the aggression level will stay down. That would probably create a well balanced tank, as there would be fish on all levels – Bettas top to middle, neons mainly middle, and corys on the bottom. But i don’t have a heater for the 1 gallon tank. Unless you want to do a water change every day on the tank and keep a space heater on 24/7. This will make it, so they don’t have problems with territory when adding them back into the tank. Put it this way, you can have 5-6 in a 10 Gallon, So you could probably have over 30 in a 90 Gallon with plenty of stock to spare. But, seen as though it is a very large tank, you might want 1-2 larger catfish in there too, perhaps Brittlenose. Best of luck with your tank, and I hope I Helped. I mean, the stocking possibilities in a tank of such size are nearly endless. Are you sure you want all female bettas in a 90 gallon, though. You can do a lot of female betta’s in the 90 gallon, not sure of the number. they say in a 10 gallon you can keep five females in a sorority, so proportionally you could have 45 females. An example could be 10 Pygmys, followed by 5+ more, then 10 neons, another 10 neons, and yet more neons, then gradually the female bettas in groups of 5. To add the females do the less aggressive one to the most aggressive one, wait a couple minutes after releasing a female. I would hold off on getting the female till you get your 90 gallon up and running. However, I am not sure exactly how many, how often, and in what order, apart from that the female bettas should probably go last, with the cories neons first, to avoid any agression on the Bettas part toward any newcomers. As for how many you could have in a 90 gallon – a LOT. As for your 90 gallon. The one gallon is way to small and with out a heater in it, she will just be suffering and probably end up getting sick and dieing. Female Bettas do do well in groups, but they aren’t shoaling fish, which is something you have to remember. For a bit of balance, why not have a large shoal of fish along with a load of female bettas. I was thinking about adding the Betta and other Betta’s to it after i have everything all ready. If you like to add more later on, then just remove the 6 females and the decoration’s as well, Put the decoration’s in first, but make it different then the way it was before you removed them.
