Colorful Dog Collars : Aqueon 17772 Mini Bow 2-1/2 Desktop ...
I bought this little aquarium wonder (w/a black top),bye bye bowl, and wow have I got one happy fish. Currently my hood is awkwardly perched backwards so all the light goes into the aquarium and I can't say I don't think it looks great(not counting the hood). I can't really give a bad rating because it is not advertised here as being for a planted aquarium, but it was sold to me under the impression that it could support plants. This aquarium with, separately purchased heater, and thermometer, is great for Bettas. The filter cartridge is easy to insert, and the tank was very easy to set up. The filter runs very quietly, and although it isn't very powerful, it does just enough to keep the water circulating and the tank clear. I think most people are like me, they don't understand that a 1 gallon bowl without a filter, heater, light or plants isn't really much of a home I had a Betta many years ago, also got one about a year ago that just passed away and i'm on my third... After the most recent demise of my last Betta- Hot Temper, who bless his heart, lived 2 years in a 1 gallon fish bowl, I found myself in a fish store (not so soon after, I did mourn the little guy). fast forward to cute little fish, living on my desk, and between calls me looking up just what might make him happy (er). I come to a sudden realization that I sucked as a fish mom(formerly) and needed to give the little guy what he truly... I love this little tank, perfect on a desk top, easy to set up, perfect for a Betta (just buy a heater, plants, gravel and hiding nook and you're set. 5 gallon mini-bow with its ultra-gentle and quiet filter, popped in a heater pad, (my last betta froze to death over a long weekend,,poor Lance) and he is a different little guy. It still provides enough light to see, but all that light on the power filter caused algae to grow like wildfire in the filter, which bloomed and ta-da. 5 gallon Mini Bow(just to give an idea of the water to fish ratio) and a small silk plant, and everything looks perfect in the tank. I see such a huge difference with my new Betta that I feel so bad for the other two Bettas that I didn't give a very good life. There are two cords, one for the light and the other for the filter, and although I don't like having more than one cord it isn't unsightly or messy looking. when my boyfriend went to clean the glass bowl my last Betta lived in, I think it was fate when the bowl base broke and I ended up with this tank. Wandering about I could not deny my instant love for a feisty beautiful little guy the size of a small drapery tassel, I brought him home (instant gratification and instant love is my middle name). This tank is an easy set up,the filter (that worried me sick) is great, it will not swallow or eat your Betta (as far as I can tell so far. I purchased a small heater to keep his temp at what is most conducive to his normal habitat, my Betta is making bubbles nests, and showing off like a full finned champ. I wish I could tell others buying one of these little guys that they really do need more than a very basic setup and it doesn't cost too much more than dirt cheap. For maintaining a basic fish tank I think this is the way to go. I have three small fancy goldfish in the 2. I always thought I had a happy Betta, until now, this fish is unbelievably active and showy. I never realized what a difference it makes to give your Betta a bigger tank. I will never buy a glass bowl for a any kind of fish ever again. in a bowl), but this time I thought he might benefit from living at work with me (I work all the time)....
