Cascade® Heat® 10″ Aquarium Heater 150 Watt for 30 Gallon Tanks Overviews Penn-Plax® Cascade® Heat® Aquarium Heaters accurately maintain the desired temperature in your tank. Guarantees don’t heat the tank – reliable heaters do. This heater has left me in a lurch. Fully submersible, these heaters can be placed horizontally or vertically in your tank and will automatically maintain the desired temperature level. I purchased this heater so that I could keep the large tank in a bright, sunny, room of the house that we keep heated to only 60 degrees in this New England winter. Available in sizes to match the size and volume of your tank, these heaters are factory preset to 76 degrees Fahrenheit making them ready to use in most aquatic environments. He began selling these after Visi-therm and their stealth heaters began to not hold up. His selling feature was the price and the life-time guarantee. I purchased this heater for my brand new 10 gallon aquarium from my local fish store. I paid $9 for the heater and they want $10 to send it back. Just plug it in and these heaters will safely and efficiently bring the temperature to your set level. The heavy duty shock-resistant glass gives these heaters a long life and makes them safe for your aquarium and your pets. All I want is a heater that is reliable – I’m not concerned about guarantees. This heater definitely did not work. Each heater comes with two suction cups for easy and secure placement in your aquarium. Made with superior insulation, these heaters provide excellent heat distribution over the entire element. So far, so good, “Oscar” seems very comfortable and the size of the heater is not obtrusive. I am basically just buying another heater from them. Can be set to your desired temperature using the visible temperature setting scale and is accurate to 1 degree Fahrenheit. After 1-1/2 weeks, I bought a digital thermometer (the same as the one in my community tank). After turning the unit up continuously throughout the evening, I could heat the 10 gallon tank no higher than 75 degrees. I checked the new thermometer against the old one and they measured the same temperature within a few 1/10′s of a degree. The fact that it is automatically set to a temperature that works for most fish tanks is a bonus, I did not have to even alter that. I bought two of these at the same time so put in the new one and that is working but will probably get less than a year out of that one as well.
