The phosphate remover needs to be used only as needed, up to 4 days I believe on this brand, then REMOVED. It would need to be used on water changes if your tap has phosphates as the conditioner does not remove them and they can aggrivate acropora corals and cause algae. For fish only, phophate is less important to remove, but still good to periodically remove to prevent red slime and other nusance "algae" growth. RO water is ideal, but seachem prime will remove many harmful elements in the water. IT can scratch easier, and acrylic usually does not keep a resale value (usually because it is scratched). But if you test your tap water, and nothing runs too extreme, then you could easily just add a conditioner and use your tap. Note: I use Amquel and Novaqua and won’t use any other water conditioner ever. RO water is great if your tap water is completely botched. SeaClear’s but it scratches very easy. I have a 40 gallon Seaclear Acrylic tank. I use tap water, and instant ocean salt , although there’s better ones as well. I recommend SeaClear’s System II for any freshwater or saltwater/reef enthusiast who’s looking for a simple, ready-to-run aquarium. Acrylic is actually weighs less, is a better insulator, and is stronger than glass.
